Parataniwha is a member of the nettle family. It is a herbaceous ground cover plant and is one of our very few perennials. It grows up to at 1m tall in wet shaded areas such as damp shady streamsides and gullies. It can form large colonies and is often the dominant groundcover vegetation.
It is recommended to have a minimum of 5–6 species in one planting area. This creates a more resilient ecosystem in the long term.
