** PLEASE NOTE: As Witheford Reserve is currently closed, we will meet at Kaipātiki Project, 17 Lauderdale Road and will be working in Eskdale Reserve instead. **
Led by an expert ecologist, we’re establishing a new volunteer group to regenerate this special reserve and positively impact the environment. Over 25 years ago, passionate community members initiated restoration activities within this tranquil haven, laying the groundwork for what would later evolve into Kaipātiki Project.
Witheford Scenic Reserve includes lowland forest, a Waitematā sandstone stream, tidal saltmarsh and coastal cliffs. In some parts of the reserve there are remnant native trees (kahikatia, totara and kowhai) that survived early clearing and milling during European settlement. Along the coastal edge of this and adjoining reserves is Kaipatiki Creek, turangawaewae (home habitat) to endangered nativ
