Event details

Hands-on Workshop | Observe | Understand | Regenerate

Join us for a fun and practical workshop led by Rebecca Swan from Growing Point, a certified Soil Food Web Lab Technician.

Discover the hidden life inside compost! In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to prepare your own microscope slides, explore and identify the key groups of compost microbes, and see how these tiny organisms power healthy soil. We’ll then take the science a step further by designing a simple trial using compost on native tree seedlings and vegetables, helping you see real-world impacts on plant growth and soil vitality. Perfect for curious gardeners, growers and nature lovers, this workshop will open your eyes to the vibrant microscopic world that fuels thriving ecosystems!

Thanks to Kaipātiki Local Board for supporting our series of gardening workshops!
