Join us in learning te ao Māori approach to restoration!

Hands On Ecology workshop series is designed for community restoration groups and anyone keen to learn about restoration ecology through a te ao Māori lens. A 3-hour session offers practical skills for restoring private and public spaces, and may include up to 2 hours of walking—please dress appropriately and bring water/snacks.

This session covers:

  • Whenua and the significance of Kaipātiki e.g. Kauri podzols
  • Site identification – recognising what defines the changes in ecology types across a defined site
  • Threatened and endangered ecosystems – taonga species
  • Kauri whānau
  • Leaf litter and ground dwellers
  • Plant identification – carnivorous plants

If you’re part of a restoration or reserve group, please include the group’s name in the Organisation section.

Booking for this event is essential, as spaces are limited for health and safety reasons.

Please ensure that you individually register every person intending to join on the day.
